Welcome to The Elm Tree

Lorraine and her team welcome you to our traditional free house in Swanwick.

The Elm Tree Inn Swanwick offers a warm welcome and great pub food in traditional surroundings.

Sunday Lunches, the incredible Tuesdays Steak Nights (currently suspended during Christmas, back in 2018), Birthdays, Family and Celebration Parties, Funerals, and Company events can all be accommodated in our 50-seater restaurant. A special buffet choice is available at set prices.

Only stopping for a drink? Then stop by our Lounge Bar or the Public Bar or even the large, well protected Garden with its attractive flower borders and seating area provide a comfortable setting for drier and warmer days. Pets are welcome in the Public Bar only.

With fewer Free Houses available, The Elm Tree still retains those welcome words. As such, a variety of superb beers, both Cask and Keg are available. On offer are Prize-winning beers such as ‘Flowerpots’ ‘Goodens Gold’ and the ever popular ‘Doom Bar’ together with the latest finds such as ‘Goose IPA’  and the new “Maltsmiths” and lagers such as Fosters, and Peroni. Our cask ales are sourced from local breweries, including The Flower Pots in Cheriton.  The Elm Tree has also recently been recommended for inclusion into the “Good Beer Guide”.

Cider drinkers are not forgotten, either, with the lesser-known but very tasty offering of Thatchers Gold and Strongbow Cloudy Apple, as well as a selection of Old Mout bottled fruit ciders.

During the year The Elm Tree also celebrates some national events including Valentines Day, Mothering Sunday and Bank Holiday Weekends. We also provide ‘Beer-Fests’ during the year. For all the upcoming events keep an eye on the Special Events Page to ensure you don’t miss out.

FOOD

Food is served Monday lunchtime 12noon to 2pm.  Tuesdays to Saturdays 12noon to 2pm, 6pm to 9pm.  Sundays 12noon to 8pm

The Elm Tree restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a meal with friends or family.  We offer everything from light lunches to full pub food favourites and aim to accommodate every taste.
Daily specials can be found on the blackboards around the pub. Our regular menus can be downloaded and viewed using the links to the top right.
Sunday we also add Roast dinners to the menu, with a selection of meats and seasonal vegetables on offer – it will be clean plates all round.

DRINKS

The Pub is open all day, 7 days a week, but see above for specific Food service times when the kitchen is open.

The Elm Tree serves a wide variety of ales, bitters and lagers and being free of ties, prides itself by being able to support local breweries.  Lorraine’s  experience in the pub trade means she is very knowledgeable and suggestions for good ales to try would be greatly received.  The Cellar at the Elm Tree is, of course, very well maintained, with all beers stored at the correct temperature, CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) gave its Goddens Gold 10/10.

ELM TREE BEER FESTIVAL – Friday 4th to Monday 7th May 2018 – see the EVENTS page for further details

What our customer say

Only discovered the Elm Tree recently..

and have been back 3 times in 10 days, what a gem of a pub. Lovely county village feel, cosy and inviting with a very relaxed feel and it’s within walking distance! Landlady and staff are really friendly and welcoming. Food is very good…….We had a lovely meal and the beers and wines are excellent.

A good Find

Visited here for lunch –  how nice to find a pub with a warming fire and good old pub food. I had scampi and chips in the basket and must say it was delicious and plentiful. My sister had the biggest baked potato with prawns which I have seen for a long time!! The Shiraz wine was well priced and very drinkable. Lorraine, the landlady, is doing a great job bringing the pub back from the run down state it had become when she bought it and is now organising special events including a beer festival’ over the early May bank holiday.(See EVENTS page) I will definitely return soon for good food, good service, good atmosphere and, also, a good price!!!!
